Default I want a 5.11 belt, but which one?

So I am wanting a new belt. Mine that I have now bothers me because I have a problem with nickel touching my stomach, and 5.11 are all steel.

My question is since they are the same price...which one is better?

1 1/2 or 1 3/4 belt size? I just have jeans and or khakis, with my serpa.

I used to own the Trainer belt (sold it because I need a smaller size). From what I understand, the belts are identical except for the width--neither is "better." Choose your width wisely. Will your pants accept 1 3/4"? Will your Serpa? Are you prepared to buy new pants and a new Serpa clip to accommodate a wider belt? I'm being a little over-dramatic, but you probably catch my drift.

I like the belt a lot and will buy another soon.

I'm basically going to echo TinGlock here. Avoid the 1 3/4 belt unless you know what you are doing. I have it, and I now wish I had purchased the 1 1/2. Too many items won't work with 1 3/4. Otherwise I like it. Nice sturdy belt for the money.
While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

    Thanks for the advice, gentlemen.
I have a 5.11 shirt [brand new purchased at Good Will and 2 pair of their trousers [Sportsman's Guide had factory 2nds on sale]], so now I need the belt.
Well, pushed 60 too hard so now I am the big SIX-OH. Now I can be a real pain in the ass! And, who says growin' old isn't fun!!

I have both. Don't get the 1 3/4" one if you want to wear it with a holster, as most won't fit.

I use the 1 3/4" one as my inner belt under my duty belt for work.

I have since bought two of the 1 1/2" belts and really like them. I wear one of them daily unless I have to dress up!

I have two of the operator belts ( black and brown ). I wear the black with my ems pants and the brown with everything else. Ive never had a problem with anything fitting on either one. I will suggest going one size larger, all 5.11 stuff runs small.

Thanks guys I am going to get the 1 1/2 belt since that seems like it will be ok. I just have to make sure that their "steel" buckles are actually steel, and not nickel.

So I have to ask--what is your problem with nickel on your skin? Rash?

Let us know how you like the Trainer.

Yeah I don't have problems with nickel anywhere else but on my stomach, spot gets red, itchy, painful. It sucks.

5.11 has belts out with a polymer buckle as well, maybe that'd be better for you if the metal buckles are problematic....It's my understanding they were designed with going through metal detectors in mind (not setting them off with the buckle)

I got the 1 1/2" with the steel buckle and love it so far
