Default My New Score - H&R 999 Sportsman

I stumbled into Gandermountain in Johnstown last night to burn off some time I had before going to a Christmas dinner and low 'n behold there was one of my bucket list guns in prime condition that some fool traded in. ...I didn't have the cash on hand so I put it on lay-a-way. Well I returned tonight to adopt my new revolver.

    H&R 999 Sportsman DAO 9shot 22rf 6" barrel. SN# B50**. That B in bold equates to a 1941 year of birth.

These things are going for $495-$525 on Gunsamerica.com for excellent condition pieces - I paid $299.00+tax. ...6 more handguns on my bucket list to go.

Holy crap. I was just reading another thread where a member was asking what .22 to buy next and one of THESE was what I was going to suggest, but couldn't recall the exact model.

That's great! I want one of them myself.
I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Included was the original box, manual, and the original paper wrapper.

When the guy brought out the box from the back after we had done the transfer and did the payment - he knew from the look on my face that they should have had a higher price. lol

    Congrats on your deal...

However, I would love to hang out at Gander Mtn. and score guns for cheap. They probably only gave that guy around 150 if that for that gun. If I could've been there.

Good find and a very good price. I purchased one new in the last year or two that they were made. It's a rock solid classic. I wouldn't part with mine for any reason. I guess it will go into my estate sale after I'm gone. TT

Thanks for sharing. I continue to learn on this website - there are just so many firearms out there from over the years...and I am so late to the table.

when i worked for Gander they had a strict 30% markup on used guns, meaning if you paid $300 they should have gave $210, I had a boss at Gander in West Mifflin get fired because our used gun margin was too high, no joke we made too much money on used guns. The sad part of this is the employees bought nearly all of them
