Had an OMG experience
Yesterday I got a call to pick up my Granddaughter at Vo-Tech. She had a Dr. appt. and needed me to sign her out. The school is super secure, I needed to be buzzed in and accompanied to the office by uniformed security.
Standing in the office I reached into my pocket to find my wallet. Imagine my shock and surprise when I realized the wallet in my front pocket was not the one I should pull out in that situation. I contemplated fleeing to my vehicle and realized even then I would still be in a predicament . Soon the kid arrived and we left the campus. I dropped her off and went home to change my underwear. I really don't want to be the "other lawful purpose poster child"
Damn LCP is so light I sometimes forget I have it on me
Has anyone else forgotten about their BUG and found themselves in similar situations.

Re: Had an OMG experience
When I started carrying early this year I had to go to the Post Office for the first time. Left sidearm in car and pulled shirt out to cover holster. Before I reached for my wallet, I told the post office employee, "Just in case my shirt comes up, I have an empty holster on me. Don't want you to see it and think I am carrying a gun in a post office."
He laughed at me and told me, "Don't worry about it." He laughed in the "Yes you are a dork" manner of laughing.

It still amazes me how many people are willing to admit on a public forum that they have broken the law...

Re: Had an OMG experience
Can you carry (OC or CC) in a post office? Is it considered Federal?
How about one of those post offices inside a mall?
I've always NOT entered them because I assumed no and figured I'd be safe than sorry. Thanks!
Is there a minimum distance from the front door/property as well?
TIA!

No case law or precedent to back that up, I'm not gonna be the test case. If you feel so confident about that statement have at it, then post on here so we can start collecting for your defense fund....
Bimmer, IANAL but from what I've read on here, post offices that aren't stand alone post offices (such as the ones in the malls or grocery stores) should be ok to carry at, though personally I would still CC. As far as minimum distance from actual post offices, none that I'm aware of. Just stay off the property. One inch from the property line should be good enough imo.Last edited by zackattack784; December 22nd, 2009 at 11:55 PM.
