Default Ridley cop fired for beating up girl

RIDLEY TOWNSHIP — A Ridley Township police officer has been fired and faces charges after allegedly beating a female Wawa employee while off duty on Dec. 15.

This is the one bad apple issue. I generally support LEO's. This guy had issues. He was fired and is now in rehab for something? Alcohol/Drugs/Steroids? I don't know, and am not speculating.

I post this because I use to live in Ridley for 2 years. The Ridley PD was tough as nails then.

A lot of retail places train their employees to ask for ID every time, even if they KNOW the customer. I'm glad the employees reported this guy.

Cool Re: Ridley cop fired for beating up girl

Rehab was most probably at the request of the LEO's lawyer.

I live just down the road from Ridley, actually had an interaction with one on Saturday during the snow. I stopped to pull out a GMC 3500 Dually with trailer that was stuck in the snow.

The officer pulled up, was a bit aggressive at first but later explained that the service station that the truck was stuck at belonged toa friend of his.

The officer stopped traffic to let us finish getting it unstuck, then escorted the couple up the hill and helped direct him to the nearest hotel in Essington.

The Ridley PD is facing increased pressure from the movement of crime from their North (Upper Darby) and their South (Chester). Robberies are up, drug use is up, Hell, we even had a Domestic escalate to a murder a few months back.

Ridley is bursting at the seems, and considering the size of PD vs the area that they cover, it doesn't surprise me that they had one bad apple. I'm sorry to hear about it, but it doesn't surprise me.

The PD's in this area are all on edge. I have friends in the local PD's and folks that I have just known my entire life on the PD's around here. Small talk with the local PD's at the local establishments used to be common place. Not so much anymore. The pressure is on, and it's visible now.

    From the article:
According to the affidavit, Decker was charged with simple assault, terroristic threats with the intent to terrorize another and harassment. He voluntarily checked into a treatment facility, which Howley declined to name, and will be arraigned upon his release sometime in January, Howley said.

He’s just trying to get his life together,” Howley said.
It's bad enough when the family members of gangbangers use the "trying to get his life together" crap, but this is the first time I've ever seen it used for a LEO.

Sounds like he had some anger management issues.

Better off he's not carrying a badge anymore.

    LOL at "one bad apple"

Its a power trip. Its the "us vs them" mentality. I actually had a cop freak out on me cuz I had a gun. He was wigging out "do you KNOW that four officers were recently shot" blablabla

fuck cops. there i said it. I never used to, but what I've seen over the last several years, I've slowly shifted to "fuck cops". I dont trust a single one of them. Not one. I was friends with one, but he turned out to be imbezzling money or some shit.

edit: o then there is the one who ran up on my bud in a parking lot the other day in plain clothes out of his personal truck (after rummaging furiously thru his consol for something which really had my friend on edge. he tried to lock to doors, but hit the window button.) so this state trooper comes ripping open his door and bitching at him for not leaving enough room for the guy to get around. Friend can be a dick and probably blocked him, but to try and push people around in a mall parking lot using the weight of your badge? whatever, powerdick. He didnt get a badge number cuz he's dumb.

Thanks for being honest enough to admit it.

Too bad however you think every cop is bad.

I dont think EVERY cops is bad (I said I dont TRUST a single one of them), but enough of them are too <arrogent-uneducated-powertrippy-aggressive-angry> whatever the reason for me to feel safe around them. Its like they are just flat out unstable and think they are not subject to the law themselves. Ends justify the means.

I get pulled over without incident more often than not. But there is too much of this nonsense out there for me to be OK with it. Man, seeing the way cops handled the G20 "protests" in pittsburgh was a real eye opener. Give them a sense of ananimity and WHOA. They are soldiers all of a sudden in a war on citizens

another edit to add: My dad was taking a shower once and heard a very *strong* knock at the door. Comes out in soap and a towell to find a cop at the door. I guess there was a smallish chimney fire he spotted driving down the road. Maybe could have been worse had he not stopped!

Cops are great at being good, helpful citizens-until they get the slightest impression you may be up to no good. (orig posted here: http://forum.pafoa.org/lounge-108/83...ning-home.html )

Agreed. Good men go into law enforcement as well. The problem isn't that they're all bad. The problem is that they work for a Mafia. If you work for the Mafia, it's going to compromise you--even if you're not a hit man, or a capo, or a don. If you're just a gardener, or a driver, you have to overlook a few things, etc., and you're compromised.

The police force in general is a mafia. For example, the PSP does all sorts of unethical things. They cut Constables off from JNET, and recently threatened any Judge's office that gives out JNET information to Constables. They're intentionally setting Constables up to arrest the wrong guy, or get themselves killed by not realizing the traffic ticket is for a convicted murderer. They do the same to local cops: if you piss them off in any way, they will cut off your JNET access and you'll be out of a job. So now suppose you're a local cop, and a "one bad apple" PSP guns someone down in cold blood. If you call for him to be prosecuted, it's bye-bye JNET and then bye-bye job. You don't dare even if you want to.

Running for Constable, I talked to the local politicos. The head of the local party told me a pointed story about a Constable they "had to get rid of" because he arrested the mayor's son upon observing him using drugs and engaging in a brawl. The message was clear. "Welcome aboard, sonny. Just remember that some of us are more equal than others."

In Constable training, we were taught flat-out "not to be a brother-fucker." That mainly means we're expected to cover a cop's ass if we're together on an arrest, say, and observe misconduct. One trainee complained about something-or-other to the PCCD, and we immediately got a heated lecture about how someone in the room is a "brother-fucker." The funniest part was that this was coming from PSP officers, whose organization is responsible for cutting off our JNET access. We're "brothers," sure--we're the pathetic loser little brother who's expected to hide big brother's drug use from mom and dad, while big brother beats us up in front of his friends.

We were taught that if we were good little Constables, we could probably avoid traffic tickets. We were also given some tips on how to go about that.

Municops have a different job than Constables, but it's still a mafia. They don't have "quotas," but they could tell you about the pressure to write enough tickets, etc. I've watched municops run personal errands for the mayor, on the clock. Etc., etc.
