Re: Why do you "need" an assault rifle?
I don't like to get in to the whole "assault weapons are only fully automatics" because it is our right to own those too.
I own an assault weapon because the Founding Fathers charged me with the responsibility of making sure no tyranny arises our republic that they set up.Last edited by tsafa; March 18th, 2010 at 12:58 AM.

I own an assault pen just for shits and giggles...

No, seriously, I couldn't agree more with your post other than that nasty "assault" in front of the word "weapon." If we act responsibly and use the correct terminoligy such as "Service Rifle" or "Battle Rifle" or "Firearms Control" or "Pistol/Revolver" or...et al. instead of playing into their hand and the public fear of terrible things that can assault them (as they return from the premiere of SAW IIV or some shit) it can only strengthen our cause and allow the uninformed public to see the fallacy of trying to ban artillery pieces ("gun" control).

And yes, I know, the defenition of "gun" also includes firearms, but if we are going to say that I own an "Assault rifle" and "only the military should have them" then I am going to use the military definition of "gun", i.e. an artillery piece.Oath Keeper, MMIX - Ad Infinitum

Re: Why do you "need" an assault rifle?
I bought an AR because I wanted one & because I could afford it. It's just a rifle, fergodsakes!
It's no different than somebody buying an expensive sports car. Just because I don't want a Porsche doesn't mean someone else can't enjoy one if he wants."It's hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong."

Because our founding fathers wrote the Bill of RIGHTS and not the Bill of NEEDS.

Where are the words "Assault Rifle"? Seems like the perfect story for them.
