    Cool CCW Permit Application Process

Anyone know if I can apply for a concealed carry permit at the Washington County sheriff office if I live in Allegheny county? I really don't look forward to driving to town to apply and then again to pick it up. I had one and stupidly let it expire so I know the rigamarole to have to pay cash to park and go in there and apply.

    Thanks,

    No.

    § 6109. Licenses.

    (b) Place of application.--An individual who is 21 years of age or older may apply to a sheriff for a license to carry a firearm concealed on or about his person or in a vehicle within this Commonwealth. If the applicant is a resident of this Commonwealth, he shall make application with the sheriff of the county in which he resides or, if a resident of a city of the first class, with the chief of police of that city.

Because I'm a nice guy. Here is your guide.

Best to hit a meter on Fort Pitt Blvd, and walk right up Grant Street. Usually no problem finding a meter, but there is a surface lot right after the metered row. It will cost you a little more. Don't let your meter run out. I was only there for 40 minutes when I applied. To pickup, I had my wife drive down 5th and I jumped out, went in, and was back out by the time my wife came back around. Both times were on Firday mid-morning.

Wow, I was looking online to see if Allegheny Cty had online registration and found that they don't! I'm in Westmoreland and it is so convenient to get a permit...I filled out the application from the website, mailed it in with a SASE and I had my permit in less than 1 week.

Also, my permit expired last november...no way at this point to renew it eh? I know the site says like 3 months before and 6 months after or something. Would be so much easier if I could just renew. Dammed 5 year permits, too many things to think about so I forgot about it.

I did the same thing, Let my grace period slip by. However, I don't see much difference in the renewal vs NEW application process. Isn't the application the same? I'd say maybe the background check is faster, but my NEW (again) app was 21 days. I figure Allegheny does a PICS, and that's it.
