Have a look at the Mauser Forum or walther Forum because if memory serves, the "bfy" is the German marking for "mauser" even though the design is walther. Dave_n

If you end up with an idea, let me know, as I have a C&R (Class 03 FFL), and live relatively close to you. With a C&R and since that gun is on the list, then no PICS or transfer, I simply sign my C&R, give it to you plus cash and then enter it in my Bound Book. Dave_n

Frame, barrel, slide and locking lug under barrel should match,,,,
    Is was made in 44.
I will say 500 or more depending who wants it.
What color are the grips? If they are the mottled brown add 25 bucks.
Also are there German stampings on it? or Import marks?
    German marks = good,,,,
Import mark = Not so desirable

Interesting combination as Marines (except for Ships complement and the occupation of Iceland), did not serve where that gun would have done. Dave_n

one to many last night when i posted my friend served on wake, he died a couple of years ago, i dont know where he got it but he had a ton of german bring backs amongst other jap bring backs. everything he had was in like new to new condition, he even had his m1 garand that he carried on wake, a friend of mine has that one. he was german but born here. heres a cool item i got from him, its a metal container with jap cigarettes in it, the metal symbol on it says philadelphia fire and marine, on the back cover it says ever ready. he took it off a dead jap.

Thumbs up Re: QUESTION FOR P-38 OWNERS/COLLECTORS

    Hi,
I have several P-38s in my collection. even in poor condition the Weapon brings around $450. I've seen A grade collectors guns go into several thousands of dollars. I would suggest that you photograph the weapon including all markings and post them, some members on the Board could then give you a much better idea of how collectable your Weapon is.
Until then do not sell the Weapon, there are many people out there who would stab you in the back in a heart-beat. Not all persons in the gun trade are honest.
Sounds like you might have a nice Weapon.
    Good Luck,
    Ed
