i noramlly get 25-27 rounds in my mags. but i bought that Christies mag laoder for the BDM mags. it works wonders compared to using my thumbs. you can fully load a mag much easier.
Guns don't kill people, it's mostly the bullets.

To the OP, are you using it to shoot as a .22 semi auto, or do you also have a Sig 556 or AR-15? I would suggest a .22 version of whatever you have first, and if that is not the case, the gun with the cheaper magazines. The plastic parts on the guns shouldnt be any worries, they are still stronger than they need to be.
On the BDM mags, they are 26 rounds, they just happen to the the same size as a 30 round AR magazine.Jeff Cooper was a huge supporter of gun games, when he was winning them at least...

Hey I just realized I'm the OP
I ended up getting the Sig 522 and I love it. I'm shooting it for what it is, a nice plinker. But there's no doubt I've developed a craving for a matching 556.
I also picked up ten BDM magazines when they had their last sale.

Should have bought the serial matching pair! Is that an NCStar red dot on there? I've been thinking about picking a cheap one up...

The red dot is a Sightmark Sure Shot. I think I paid about $40 for it and so far I'm very pleased with it.

Re: Sig 522 or SW M&P 15-22?
I own the Sig 522, used to own a GSG-5 and have a friend that has a S&W as well as having carefully looked over the Colt/Umarex. There is no comparison here; the Sig 522 is far and away the better gun out of the bunch. Quality of construction, barrel quality ease of use and features, ease of cleaning and accuracy all go to the Sig 522. Now that Sig and other companies have BUIS available for the 522 it is the way to go. I still think the Ruger 10/22 format rifles have a lot to offer and far and away the most optional accessories and parts, but for an out of the box tacticool rifle the Sig 522has it all over the others. I alos have a Walther G22 which I can't seem to give up just because it is so different in it's bullpup design but I would never take it over the 522.

Re: Sig 522 or SW M&P 15-22?
I've been following this thread and decided I needed to finally pull the trigger and go get my own Sig522. I picked it up yesterday. I also added a Bushnell Trophy Multi-Reticle Red Green Dot Scope.
Looking to have some fun this weekend
