Grinder review - Cabelas Pro Grinder 450
Hey guys, figured I'd do a quick review on the grinder I got this year...
So far we have put an estimated 500 pounds of meat through this thing
(here it is)
http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...028&hasJS=true
We typically grind the venison using the largest size plates, then do the pork, then mix them both together and put through again with the smaller plate that will be the finished product. (hence the high pounds)
Pro:
- Affordable! its on sale for 150 and Cabelas is taking 20.00 off a 100+ order, they normally give 30 off a 150.00 order which would make it even cheaper!
- All stainless/aluminum construction means its easy to clean
- Cabelas product warranty!
- Powerful and easy to change all parts / clean
Cons:
- Short cord, you will need to be very close to the wall unless you have an extension cord
- doesn't "pull" meat in from the hopper, requires something to keep fillign and pushing down in the feed tube
I would absolutely buy this item again! We have saved over 400.00 this year alone just by doing our own processing.
If anyone is looking for a great and very useful xmas gift... look at this grinder!Last edited by Dredly; December 7th, 2009 at 03:07 PM.
The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.
Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

Re: Grinder review - Cabelas Pro Grinder 450
Why start another thread:
I need a meat grinder, a good one that wont burn up after 70lbs,
and doest take 25min to grind 15lbs. My max price range is 300.00
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think it was Gixxer that build an awesome one. Basically took a heavy duty hand crank grinder and attached a motor to it. Probably works better than any store bought models.

That sounds like a tall order to fill. What are you using now? I have a grinder attachment for my Hobart (parent company of KitchenAid) but I don't think I could shove 15lbs through it in 25 minutes even, though I never tried. Govdeals.com has a section of industrial kitchen appliances where you might find something if you keep at it long enough and I'd keep an eye on CL as well, good deals can be found on occasion.

Im using a cabelas, its not even a year old and just about had it. My kitchen aide broke due to grinding.
There are grinders that will do 250lbs an hour but I want to have someone with experience with one
before I buy it. I hate buying something just to find out it sucks.
