Default Live in Dingmans, looking for somewhere to shoot!

I am a member at Heberlings for the pistol range and have been to the Game Commission range by the lake on 6 a couple of times- BUT I would like to find a place to set up targets/objects to practice more shotgun shooting with buck as well and not just slugs only like the Game Commission ranges require.

I would also like to go with some friends and do some clay shooting- hand throwers only, nothing too crazy- but everyone I talk to says "nope, can't do that around here".

With this area being absolutely nothing but woods and trees I find it difficult to believe that there isn't ANYWHERE I can go to have some shooting fun(safely, of course) with friends doing some target and clay shooting- heck, it would even be nice to practice with various buckshot shells to see which I like best and it seems I can't even do that around here .

Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Anyone? I would post this in the NEPA, Pike county section, but it looks like it gets very little traffic .

I have only shot slugs from my 12ga so far and would really like to put some buck and such through it to get some practice in, see how my grouping is and see how the pattern is with various ammo. Someone locally who has shotguns said to "just go into the woods and let it rip- hunters are out there doing it right now", but I don't want to risk any legal issues for doing so. Any advice?

just to give you a headsup. Sunset Hill (yes i work there) will allow you to shoot trap, they currently have 4 stations. however its a bit pricey. they also allow slugs. they do have hanging targets, but they only allow target loads to be used anywhere on the range. no buckshot allowed.

best bet i can say is find someone that owns some property and make your own target stands to do your tests.
Guns don't kill people, it's mostly the bullets.

Thank you for the info. I just looked it up, they are about an hour from me . It seems that EVERYTHING is about an hour away from here lol. Yet with it being so rural and with acres upon acres of woods around here, there is nowhere to set up targets or skeet shoot. Hell, I hear gunshots all day long out here. I'm half tempted to just set up some targets at the end of my community's property towards the state land and have some fun, but it's not worth the risk .

Heck, the public range when I lived in FL had pistol, rifle, shotgun, skeet, etc. all allowed there- free of charge!

Cool, I just looked them up, only about 30 mins from me or so. How are their rates? Thank you.

Skytop is a. expensive and b. caters to tourists. For shotgunning you can try Tri-States in Port Jervis, IIRC you can set up a hand trap in front of the trap house and shoot as much as you like. The club trap shoot is Sundays, $4/round open to the public. There is also an indoor 50' range and outdoor pistol/rifle ranges. It is in NY state, however, so plan accordingly.
