    Default Centurion 39 Sporter Rifle (100% American Made)

    Have any of you seen the new Centurion 39 Sporter Rifle from Century? They say that it's 100% American Made. I posted a little piece about it and the info I saw on C.A.I.'s website. Check it out and let me know what your thoughts are. It seems pretty cool. Now if only more US companies would start making 7.62x39 ammo, and steel cases at that, prices would go down and availability up!

    milled = good

    CAI = bad

    In theory it's a great idea but I would definitely stay far far away for a good year or too. I don't trust CAI at all, unless it was completely farmed out to a better builder.

    Didn't know any company was making US RSB for AKs. They got around the whole front trunnion issue by using a milled receiver, which was smart on their part.

    No Century podunk builds for me thanks.

    As for ammo, if a US manufacturer would foolishly decide to tool up for steel cased ammo to compete with the former com-bloc states, they would have to hire illegals in order just to attempt to compete with the overseas prices. American tax codes and enviromental laws will keep this from ever happening anyway.
    I can get Barnaul @ 229 per K at the local dealer, no American company could ever touch that given wage standards here, unless you trust a bunch of highschool kids making $7.50 an hour to make your ammo.

    ^^^ This. Never happen here, and if it did... not at the prices you would want to see anyway.

    Big difference between the two ...

    I.O - (mostly) Foreign parts put together here in America
    Century 39 - (supposedly) 100% American made parts put together here in America

    Steel cased ammo-Hornady makes a steel cased 7.62x39. Last I knew they made the ammo in the US.

    I can assure you that the Century Centurian is American made, I'm one of the guys who makes them. A lot of you guys on this site are making assumtions about a rifle that had not even been released yet. You must be psycic.
