Re: Cell Phone Gun
Hell, have you ever whipped out a cellphone on an airplane? You'd think by the flight attendants reaction and warnings about interfering with equipment it would certainly bring down the plane. Good thing Al Qaeda hasn't figured this out....or maybe they did...maybe flight 93 was brought down by all those poor people calling their families.

Re: Cell Phone Gun
Mythbusters did an episode on the cell phone interference a while back...they couldn't get interference from the phone to affect the more "state of the art" kind of avionics that is found is most commercial aviation today, but they did find that signals did affect the analog instruments, and IIRC it was the VOR used to guide aircraft for instrument landing. I've never seen a flight attendant flip out over someone having a cell phone out..but then again I think people have more respect for a regulation when they think a possible infractioin could cause them bodily harm. Most safety rules and regulations on commercial airliners is laughable, but I don't think they are anything of an inconvienence and if they help people feel confident and calm while flying, then I have no real problem with them.

I can never get a signal on an airplane. Think about it your 30k ft in the air moving at 500mph. How would you be able to lock onto a cell tower. I've tried many times but it never works.
I wonder if someone will really come out with that. That'd be a sweet AOW. I'd definately get one.
