    Default Arisaka Type 99 Questions

I'm finally getting around to my great uncles Type 99 bring back.
After doing some reading I read that many G.I's had changed the calibers on there Arisakas. It had been turned into a deer rifle and I'm curious how to check what ammo I will need.
He is long passed away so I cant ask him.
    Thanks in advance

Take it to a gunsmith and have/ask him if he can do a chamber cast.

It is a casting of the chamber which can be then measured to see what caliber it is.

Just in case your great uncle left it 7.7 mm Nihon-taipu, Hornady makes ammunition to fit -

    Ammobank has it.

Thanks guys. I was hoping there was an easier way and it still is 7.7 jap.
But if it is 30.06 aleast the ammo is cheaper.
