Default Using BDU's as your hunting camo?

Does anyone here use some sort of battle dress uniform as a substitute for the camo you get from the store? What pattern do or would you use for the woods? Me personally i use the cheapie realtree stuff from wally world but was thinking about getting the digital woodland or "MARPAT" with ripstop for using as hunting camo. Some may say the multicam is their choice but i tend to think it just doesn't blend in too well compared to the MARPAT. What do you think?

I plan on wearing my work boots, jeans, and a thermal hoodie. All the camo in the world can't hide 250 square inches of fluorescent orange. Our father's and grandfather's didn't have the access we do to RealTree or MossyOak. How did we ever survive before them?

Wear your BDU's! A whole hell of alot cheaper than getting geared up like these "professionals" you see on TV. Plus, we actually have to pay for ours.

I have woodland coveralls I use in early small game.
Still doesn't hide 250 in of orange, but keeps the briars off, somewhat, while digging tree-rats out.

While yes, I do have realtree on the coat, I only bought it because it was a warm, very good quality coat at a very fair price (bought at a liquidator outlet store)...I wouldn't have cared what pattern it was, like others have said, you are wearing an orange vest over it anyway. I wear orange hat, jeans & steel toed work boots to round out the outfit.

What about for the seasons where you are not required to wear orange either while stationary or also while on the move? I don't hunt those seasons but it could be a time when your pattern choice will come into question. I do like the durability that comes with mil-spec camo as opposed to the wally world stuff though.

I think some good camo would be beneficial to turkey hunting, if anything.

Yep, thats what i was thinking. I know you don't have to "wear" your orange when stationary in the fall turkey season but i am under the assumption that you don't need to have ANY orange at ANY time during the spring season right? IDK, i dont hunt spring turkey. Don't have a shotgun. Tried my hand at taking a fall turkey this year but i didn't see a single thing.

I wear mossy oak wranglers from wallymart. A mossy oak long sleeve tshirt from wallymart and a mossy oak jacket from wallymart. Total dollars about $40 on clearance a couple of years ago. Before that Dollar general has camo pants for $10 and camo thermal - $8.

I use to wear my old BDU's till i grew out of them , lol.

If anyone is interested in purchasing BDU's, here is a good site for high quality mil-spec uniforms and clothing of all kinds...

    http://www.bdu.com/

You get what you pay for too! If you wanted the digital woodland "aka MARPAT" in nyco ripstop you're looking at laying down around $75-$80 for tops and bottoms combined and shipped.
