Magpul Stock for S&W M&P15
I was about to order an MOE stock for my S&W M&P15, but wanted to be sure that I was ordering the right MOE stock, Magpul lists both a Military & a Commerical version of the MOE stock. I would assume I should order the Commerical version since I have the civilian M&P-15, can anyone comfirm?
Thanks!
Tom

My guess would be commercial. But not familiar with the S&W. Just because you have a civilian rifle doesn't mean that your tube is not "military standard" size. Get a pair of calipers and measure it to be sure. "mil-spec" is 1.148" OD and commercial is 1.168" OD.
Good luck!

Get the specs for the tube from S&W or measure it yourself. Just because it's a civilian rifle, doesn't mean it uses a commercial tube. I believe S&W uses a milspec tube, but I'm not absolutely positive. The measurements and specs should be on the web with a short google search.

I'm about 90% sure that the mil spec tube has a slight angle on the end of the tube where the stock slides over. The civilian one is perfectly flat.
* I stand corrected. I have them backwards after looking at the next posting.
Thanks for clearing this up. I hate giving bad info.Last edited by wheeling365; November 20th, 2009 at 02:03 PM.

The only proper way to do this is to follow this:
FWIW, my M&P 15T has a mil-spec tube. I can't imagine that they'd go "commercial" for other models, but I can't say for sure.

Thanks for all the info! I'll have to measure the buffer tube, since S&W didn't have the answer on thier website.
Again thanks!

I also have an M&P15T. It's a Mil-Spec buffer tube. The majority of the larger manufacturers are Mil-Spec. Search ar15.com and get all the info you could possibly need. Good luck!

Re: Magpul Stock for S&W M&P15
The M&P 15 and the 15-22 are mil spec.
The 15-22 is not an acutal buffer tube, and not removable, but is il-spec diameter and accepts all stocks not requiring removal of tube._________________________________________
