    Default laws protecting ranges

Does anyone know what law or court decisions protect existing shooting ranges, in Pennsylvania in particular, from new neighbors complaining about the noise?

If you do, could you quote it for me or point me in the right direcion?

    Thanks

    None that I know of..

You could argue "I was here first, you accepted my existence when you moved here/purchased neighboring lands". It holds up sometimes, sometimes not. ...like moving beside an airport then complaining about whining jet engines.

Wings Field is constantly in litigation on this very same issue. It took the Federal Government stepping in and telling the NIMBYs to go pound sand for the lawsuits to stop.

There is no such thing as the "I was here first" doctrine as far as I know.

Working in NJ I followed the newspaper story, about 8 - 10 yrs. ago, regarding a range in West Windsor that was being overtaken by new Starter Castles.

The range was built to NRA standards and was considered by the state to be grandfathered.

They did make their berms higher just to soothe the NIMBY crowd. I was amazed to see NJ actually stand up to the new homeowners

Of course they will stand up for the new home owners, they are getting more taxes from these new home owners...they are their cash cow.

    Ok, what is a NIMBY?
When you are called a racist, it just means you won an argument with an Obama supporter.
