Hmm, see, to me that doesn't say much about that pistol's use as a defensive weapon. The distance is fine, 7 yards I can deal with no problem. But nobody believes that #8 shot is a defensive round. Heck, #8 shot doesn't even usually kill pheasants in a 20 gauge, sometimes not even in a 12. Nobody with any experience in shotgunning would think that #8 shot is gonna be a good defensive round. Buckshot, that's what we need to test, and apparently I'm gonna just have to go borrow a snake slayer to find out.

    Smile Re: Taurus' The Judge

Guys let's look at this realistically. The box of truth did a review of the judge and it estimated it would have 2" to 4" of penetration at 10 feet. So think about it this way and read my assumptions below:

    1. I have never known any attacker to run backwards to his intended victim.
    2. The shot spread out of the judge at 10 feet is 6 inches to 8 inches.
    3. Most people that die of gunshot wounds die because of the shock trauma that occurs. This begins to happen as soon as they realize they have been shot. With a shot spread like this, they will definitely realize they are shot. This will not be a pretty wound by any means.
    3. Only takes about 2 pounds of pressure and 1 inch of depression on the orbital lobe to knock a person unconscious.
    4. The Judge #4 birdshot penetrates 2 to 4 inches in human flesh within 10 feet of the barrel, the average human eye width is 1.2 inches.

    You do the math.
I am buying one, but waiting for the 3 inch chambered version. I will use #4 birdshot in the first 2 chambers, followed by 2 000 buck 3inch shells, followed by a final 45LC round. If he is lucky enough to get through all of that and I can't fight him off, then he deserves to get me. Shoot for the neck head area, then the chest with the 000 buck. I will be completely comfortable with this gun especially considering its usage - back trails, in the house, or in the car. Thank you.

No reason for it to be marked...

    Talking Re: Taurus' The Judge

i've been looking around for a holster and found one that fits well it's for my glock 23 inside the piants style it has belt loop on it so you could have the holster on the outside
i also found some slugs that should work in the judge 97-grain lead saboted slug. 2 3/4" length

I am torn about this firearm all in all. The spread at 5-10 feet seems devasating but:

1- Its too big to conceal in my book. That long wide cylinder could not be comfortable.

2- The leaves it in the home defense/ car gun category. If its for home defense, I will stick with a 12 gauge that is far more effective. And I do not really care for car guns.

its cool as anything, but I just dont need it.

I like guns that work as lethal weapons. If you wanna fuck up someone eyes, so they don't want to fight....carry pepper spray.

If you want the ability to definitively stop a threat, there and then...carry a gun which is worth fighting with.

You want to shot someone trying to steal your car? That's called manslaughter/ attempted murder if your life wasn't in jeopardy. If that person had a gun...and you wound them with birdshot....you haven't stopped them from deciding to use their gun on you. And lets not forget, 1 lucky shot on their part could make it lights out for you.

Do what you want to do. I won't be carrying one, nor recommending one to anyone for a defensive weapon against anything other than snakes.

Spread is an asset when shooting flying targets.

It's a liability on the street.

I don't care how big of a spread it puts on a Shoot'n'See target, I care what it does when it hits something. You should see what my full auto airsoft does to one of those targets....
