Question Opinions on sight for HD shotgun

I just got a Mossberg 500 Persuader 18.5" Tactical for home defense purpose. I added a tactical flashlight. Would I be better off with a laser sight or a red-dot sight (or none at all)?

You point shoot a shotgun......just use the bead. Nothing is faster inside house distances.

The factory bead works for me. I did look at the Big Dot once or twice, same with ghost ring sights. There are a lot of sights offered for HD shotguns, but I'm starting to think that simple is better on an HD gun.

I agree, a front bead is all you need. Of course, if you want to spend some money, you might like to add one of these:

how did you add the flashlight? the 18.5 has no room on the magazine to add it. did you attach to barrel, or get a specialized forend? if you attached to barrel, presumably you can't use your bead sight?

Just enough room on the magazine tube for a tri-rail mount I got off e-bay (specifically for Mossberg 500).
    Here's a photo.

Strange. I swore I just posted here with a photo of my old Persuader to show a light mounted on it...

Anyway, here's the pic, and yes, a light fits.

As for the OP's question, I would not mount a laser OR a red dot.

I liked the ghost ring sights on my Persuader a lot. I can't hit squat with bead sights, although that could likely be remedied with practice - I just never did any traditional shotgun shooting, so the "sights" seem "natural" to me.

An illuminated front post/bead isn't a bad idea either.
I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

If you want to spend the coin, Surefire offers an integral forend light with pressure switch.
I have one on my 500 Mariner.
