Thumbs down Oxford Adopts Lost or Stolen Ordinance

On October 19, 2009 Oxford Borough adopted Ordinance #824-2009.
See the copy at the Mayors Website: http://www.themayorofoxford.com/

Here is a copy of my e-mail to the Mayor of Oxford.

    Mr. Mayor,

I was looking at your website earlier this week and noticed Oxford recently passed Ordinance #824-2009. I writing you this email to ask if the town Solicitor confirmed this Ordinance is legal per Title 18 Section 6120? It is my belief, by passing this Ordinance, Oxford is in violation of state law.

Although I am not a resident of Oxford Borough, I live in the Oxford Area and it will not beneficial for the Oxford community for Oxford Borough to be embroiled in a costly law suit.

    Respectfully yours,

    JSOC
    Nottingham PA

Oxford Area residents should contact Mayor Geoffrey Henry to get him off of Bloomberg's Mayors against illegal guns. In Bloomberg's view they are all illegal.

Wow. Too bad that no one in that area gave advance notice.

I think a lot of us say "Whew! Glad that isn't where I live!", but give it time... it's gonna be happening more, and more, and faster, and faster, as these places "get away with it". Who's going to say "That's ILLEGAL!"(and have it overturned)when EVERY town enacts such an ordinance?

Wish I could break the law without fear the way these cities and towns do.
Well, not really - I have no desire to break laws. Guess I'll never cut it as a politician.
I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Meh, it's not like they'll be able to inforce it. But i agree it's better to get it off the "books".

I do believe that one cannot challenge an ordinance until an arrest is made. An ACLU tactic aganist a law they do not like is to have someone in an obvious gesture break the law and get arrested. The ACLU, with their army of lawyers, will take the matter to court and have the legislation overturned.

The ACLU does not typically care about anything firearms related. So, more than likely, you'll be fighting it on your own.

I am not suggesting that the ACLU will put their dogs out to defend the 2nd amendment. The ACLU will however prompt an arrest regarding an ordinance or law that is against their agenda just to facilitate a challenge. The Oxford ordinance will remain on the books until it is challenged thru a prosecution.
In reading such ordinance, and maybe I am missing something, but I do not read anyplace within that provides for a penalty for breaking such policy.
