Default Address on MO for $200?

This is probably a dumb question, but what BATFE address should I use on my $200 money order with my Form 4?

Should I use this one, the same one I mail everything to?

That's what I'm thinking, but everything online that talks about the process never mentions anything about the payee address field on the money order.

I found its better to use a personal check.

thsi way, you KNOW when the check was cashed and cleared.

I then print it out and keep a copy with teh COPIES of my completed and CLEO signed paperwork.

there have been instances of the ATF losing various bits of paperwork, including payments.

how pissed would you be if 5 mos down the line you call ATF to check your transfer, and they say they never got payment?

Yeah, but I've been trying to keep my fun money separate from my general funds, hence this route. I figured they wouldn't like a wad of cash stuffed in the envelope very much.

Besides, the USPS will replace it for a nominal fee, if need be.

Good advice of course, but don't some MOs allow you to call a number and check on the status...if it was cashed yet?

Personal check is easier to track. And easy to get copys of it after being cashed. If I remeber correctly a money order is a PIA to see if it was cashed.

I could be wrong, But I think you need to go personally to the post office. Pay a fee and bring the stub from the money order with you.

Just went through this. You have to wait 60 days after the MO was issued before you can start the refund procedure. The Post Office can check to see if it was cashed by making a phone call. Save the stub. I don't know if the phone call costs you money but it costs $5.40 for the refund form processing. It took about 2 weeks after filing the form to get a check from USPS for the amount of the money order.

Thanks for all the info guys. I used a check the last time, I'm just doing it differently this time. I already have a MO; I just need to verify if I need anything in the payee address field.

    Thanks!
