Default Colt MK IV Series 80 Combat Goverment, why is it combat?

I have a 1911 Colt MKIV series 80 combat government. What makes it a combat model? I know that the MKIV have a heavier slide but thats about it. Anyone know why this model is considered a combat model?

various enhancements like lowered/flared ejection port, different shape grip safety, extended safety and slide release, match grade barrel...at least in a combat elite. Don't know the combat government but I would imagine some combination of above features...

From colt site for "special combat government"

Fully Adjustable Bomar Style Rear Sight
Novak® Front and Rear Night Sights (O1970CY)
    Enhanced Hammer
    Extended Ambidextrous Safety Lock
    Upswept Beavertail Grip Safety
    3-Hole Aluminum Trigger
    Lowered and Flared Ejection Port

It's a marketing term. Think of them as fluff terms. They may add a few nifty features but just about any well made bare bones 1911 is fine for combat.

    Guys,

OP hasn't posted since the day he asked the question 6˝ years ago. I doubt he'll see your reply.

Some of us 1911 folks might appreciate the info, though, so thanks.

He's probably been in jail for having an illegal assault weapon based on his original post
