But FED law generally requires interstate handgun transfers go through an FFL in the recipients state.

So to answer your Q. Both parties must be Pa. residents or meet one of the FED law exemptions if interstate transfer.
Ah. That's what I thought. What are the federal laws (exemptions) for Father to son. His state is FL (which is friendly), does that matter? =(

intestate succession is one. But I'm guessing that doesn't apply Other than that, the usual fed stuff like FFL, agents/leo etc.

Yep perfectly legal, me and my dad trade guns quite often. We both have a decent collection and sometimes I feel the need to do some trading and usually it's with him, best part about it is we can and often do trade back at some point, nice not having to do the transfer BS.

+1 Rep to your dealer for letting you know that you dont have to spend the money unless you want to.

    Congrats on the new pistol.

Hi. I'm new to the forum, and have a question on this topic.

My dad bought me a pistol (Kel Tec P-11) several years ago for my birthday, so it is in his name. If I wanted to sell/trade it, he would have to be there to do the transfer, correct?

If he gave it to you and you were both Pa. residents (or residents of another state that does not outlaw such a transfer) than it is yours, by law. It is NOT in anyones name as Pa. does NOT have a registry.
    (ref: http://forum.pafoa.org/general-2/414...nsfers-pa.html)

Pa. has a database of *SOME* handgun transfers. But handguns are not "in anyones name".

Assuming the above, If you sell it you sell it in compliance with Fed law (18USC 922) and Pa. law.

Oh, there ARE ambidextrous safties and mag releases for autos, and I think I heard of someone who made a lefty 1911A1, though I can't find it at the moment.

I don't have the CW9 anymore because I sold it to buy the Glock 19! but I will let you know how the 709 shoots once I get the chance to try it.
