Default Beretta 92 or Sig 226?

This gun would be for mostly range work with some chance of HD or CC. I really dont need advice on any other pistol than the two I have listed but thanks anyway. I am leaning toward the Beretta. How accurate are they? Thanks, Brian

I have the Beretta M9 which is basically the 92 just with some appearance changes. I don't know how big of a person you are, but it would be very difficult for me to conceal the 92. Having said that, it is extremely reliable, eats anything I feed it, and throw the 9mm quite accurately. I can only speak on the Beretta since I have no trigger time on the Sig, but I do enjoy the Beretta quite a bit. Good luck.

Berettas uses a rotating cylinder assembly for loading (unlike the traditional "drop and load" barrel function in other semis). The barrel is thus constantly aligned. Some analysts consider the function more accurate. Some analysts think that it happens so quickly that it isn't noticable.

But you rarely hear about accuracy issues with a Beretta.

Edit: If you are looking for CC work, the 92 is a bit large. You'd be better off looking at a Cougar - same workings and same controls as a 92. It's just a bit smaller.

I own a Beretta 92FS and would love to own a Sig. I personally like the Beretta more, I have shot and handled a Sig and fired over 300 rounds in it so I feel pretty comfortable with it. I like the trigger of the sig better. The looks of the beretta are sexy. The beretta is more accurate because of the longer barrel. I like the grips and width of the beretta but that is because I have larger hands. A sig would be easier to CC compared to beretta.

I hope whatever you choose, you truly enjoy it. Now, I really want a sig because this post made me think about it more....GAHH!~!!!

I own both and LOVE both...But if I could only have one it would be the Sig..
They are both accurate and have similiar triggers but the Sig is a little sexier....

The Sig feels better in my hand, and has a better trigger to me. You will not go wrong either way.

I found both triggers to be terrible to me so the triggers are on a scale to me.. The Glock was a crisper suck and the XD was a more mushy suck. They are in the same family, SR9 (heavy suck), Glock (crisp heavy suck), XD( lighter mushy suck), M&P(heavy mushy suck).

    i have a 226 and used a 92 in the military.

persnally, i don't like the M9 as it is not very size efficient, has a big grip and long trigger, and a poorly placed safety.

this doesn't mean i think it is a bad gun, just not my choice

if you ignore the 92's safety - which the military insists on using but i feel is unnecessary for this pistol - the pistol can be manipulated fairly easily if you have big hands. i don't, so i have trouble shooting it. this is in spite of the fact that i do quite well with the USP, which also has a big grip.

the 226 will conceal fairly well with the right holster, i would recommend the CrossBreed Qwik Tuck.

you may want to give a real thought to the 228/229. it has the same capacity as the 226 and it's slightly smller size does make it easier to conceal

226 is my clear choice, but both are good pistols
