    Default i was noticed OCing

My girlfriend and I went to Sunrise Diner on S. 4th St in Allentown for breakfast this morning. When I was checking out, an off-duty EMT waiting to be seated saw my holstered Taurus.

    EMT: "Hey buddy, you're showing."
Me: "Open carry is legal in Pennsylvania."
EMT: "Really? I didn't know that. I have a concealed permit that says you have to conceal."
Me: "I have a license to carry, but it doesn't require me to conceal."

I offered him a flyer, but he declined. I showed him the PAOpenCarry.org website address, so hopefully he'll check it out. We can only hope he'll get his facts straight.

Interesting, never heard of that before. Strange someone would not want free info/links.

I've seen it a few posts on here about people declining the flier.

Search "declined" and "flier" and you'll see a hit or two, usually it seems to be LE who "aleady knows" about OC.

You're right, I've seen the LEO declining flyers too. That I can understand. Seems odd to me for a non leo to decline, after discussing it with someone.

Perhaps encourage the person to pull out and examine his LTCF to find the word "concealed". Get them thinking?

I've noticed people saying that on here all of the time. (People declining fliers).

Doesn't surprise me a bit, your handing them one more piece of directly delivered "junk mail" (in their opinion). They aren't going to read it, they don't care...its just one more peice of paper that they have to go find a trash can for or more junk in their pockets that they have to fish out during laundry.

    I'm surprised that your surprised.

Surprised because I have never seen it posted here (non LEO) and have never had someone decline a flyer when we were talking about firearms. Still am surprised.

Yeah, I was surprised to. Maybe I shouldn't be assuming this, but I figured as an EMT (first responder who probably deals with police on a regular basis), he would want to know about his rights to carry.

Well, at least it didn't turn into an unpleasant encounter, with him possibly arguing with me.

I deal with people all the time... as I said, this doesn't surprise me a bit. They don't care about OC/CCing, why would they want to read about something they don't care about? I"ll be honest, if someone walked up to me with a flier about frying eggs the "right" way, I'd decline it too. To them, they are a cook/chef and they are all into it. Me... I don't care. I microwave my eggs. I don't want the extra junk. I don't just hand people fliers, I say I have some and ask if they want one.

    Exactly, you handled it well.
