Default Is $799 for new M&P 15 a good deal?

My local shop has new S&W optics ready M&P 15's on sale for $799.
A "Black" gun has been on my list for a while now. Plus S&W has a deal for 5 free mags thru the end of the year.
    Seems like a good deal.
    On the fence.

Thats pretty decent for a S&W AR. Most I see are going for about $900-1000 yet. DPMS, Delton, and a couple others are dipping into the mid $600's.

    I'm not into semi-auto's, let alone AR's - but I about pulled the trigger on a $700 AR15 and a $1000 AR10 yesterday.

The 5 free mag deal is what is leaning me in this direction. Still have to spend money on sites or optics.

I'm no expert on ARs, but that sounds like a good price. Atlantic Tactical has M&P 15s for $939 & 979.

If I remember correctly, Richland Shooter's Supplies had the M&P flat top for around $749.

For what little I know about AR's (trust me, it's just a little), it seems like the S&W is a quality piece. I haven't read anything negative yet. I'm leaning towards the Stag myself ONLY because I'm a left handed shooter. I've had a cutback in some hours, so it may take me a little longer to get one.

Don't let the optics hold you back....Walmart has decent scopes for $69. I put one on my 10/22. Even has the illuminated mil-reticle. Cabelas also has a TON of scopes back in the bargain cave for really good prices.

799 sounds like a good deal on a SW M&P15 flat top, does it come with the flip up rear site or M4 barrel? Tanners has M&P15 M4 with the flip up rear site for around a 1000 bucks and normally Tanners has the best prices in my area. There are several M&P15 models to choose from so without knowing the exact model it's hard to tell how good of a deal it is. for 799 I would buy it and not look back plus you get 5 magpul mags for free which is about a 80-100 dollar value.

The model is M&P 15OR. It doesn't have any sites.
