Re: Man arrested for having gun on school property
What am I missiing?
I thought in PA it is only illegal to carry on the property of a K-12 school? If I am wrong, does that mean that ANY property owned by a school district is illegal to carry on? Even if the building has no teaching done in it?

Statute says:
in the buildings of, on the grounds of, or in any conveyance providing transportation to or from any elementary or secondary publicly-funded educational institution, any elementary or secondary private school licensed by the Department of Education or any elementary or secondary parochial school.Last edited by gnbrotz; October 28th, 2009 at 06:08 PM.

Re: Man arrested for having gun on school property
I believe the school is used mainly by high school students in grades 11 and 12. I went to the Western Center for Technical Studies, another vo-tech school in Montgomery county, my senior year of high school and it was 99% school students. It is also open to adults who want to enroll.

I wish they woud settle the "for other lawful purpose" issue too.

I am in for at least $100 if Mr.Anfuso's defense fund is needed to fight the charges.

Re: Man arrested for having gun on school property
Uhhhh...'ADULT EVENING CLASSES'...think 'community college'.
The change of purpose means that this is not a school under the definition provided in the statute. No longer K-12
Also, at most vo-tech / technology centers, the COUNTY runs the adult ed, not the school districts directly; and in virtually every county except Philly and Allegheny, the county owns the actual buildings.
We may actually have a preemption violation here..."...a REPUBLIC, if you can keep it."
