    Default Storage of firearms

I'm currently selling my house and moving. I am going to have people come in an out of my house looking at it with a realtor and I want to store my firearms in a safe location until the sale and move is complete. The only person I know with a gun safe that is big enough and empty enough is a friend that lives in NJ. Am I legally allowed to bring them across state lines to store them?

Don't know for sure, but I would not bet on it.

I would not bring any guns into NJ ( even with the NJ firearms permits . )

the law is too confusing and the police officers make up their own interpretation of it

Since you're not just passing thru and NJ is your destination, I tend to agree with what others have said... DON'T RISK IT!

Get a storage unit,,, public storage charges $1 for the first month. cost about $25 after "paperwork fees", but $25 aint bad for a month.

If you go the public storage route - which is not a bad suggestion - make sure you camouflage your items when you load them in. You do not want to pull your car up and start unloading rifle cases for all to see.

You mean you would do it at night, if you were so inclined to stockpile firearms, which you certainly are NOT!! That would be crazy!!

If the temp safekeeping is seen as a transfer in the eyes of the feds (ATF) then you can not store out of state. I honestly do not know if they would or would not. Besodes that. as other mentioned, NJ opens up a whole new can of worms. I would highly advise against it.

Baring someone IN STATE that you trust (with an LTCF if your stash includes handguns) I would advise taking them to an FFL. You will have to find one that will do it and pay a fee. Only other option is rental storage locker. Probably quite secure, but I would be wary of people seeing you taking gun cases into it, including the folks watching the cameras at the storage facility. But hey, I'm paranoid about that stuff.
