Default I can't wait to Move to PA

I'm a New Jersey resident (unfortunately I can't become a PA Resident or I'll loose my health insurance with my mom). I attend Villanova on the Mainline. Living in PA turned me into a die hard libertarian and I'm now an avid gun enthusiast and I go to the shooting range every week (Classic Pistol in South Hampton, if anyone else frequents, drop me a line). I bought a Glock 22 .40 and currently I'm trying to get a permit for a Beretta M9 (you need a permit for each hand gun you purchase in NJ). But that's just my back story, here is what I am writing about.

I have my Florida CCW already (since I can't get a PA non-rez b/c NJ practically denies the right to carry) and conceal carry whenever I can. I can't carry on Villanova's campus but I carry when I go to the WaWa next to my house, or grocery shopping at Giant. I come under fire constantly from people I consider very ignorant. A unfortunate majority of my school is from New Jersey, New York, Long Island and Massachusetts. My room mates don't overtly support my decision to carry but they aren't against it in any way. What I have deal with are people who ask me "why I need a gun" and that carrying it will just get me into trouble and there is no reason for it. It scares them. There were a bunch of sorority girls at a local CVS I went to and when I went to get my wallet my coat brushed aside and they saw my gun. One of them freaked out and I heard them talking. They were legitimately scared, even though I had made no threatening remarks or gestures. I guess they ended up calling the police because 1 minute later driving home I was pulled over and interrogated by 5 squad cars if I had a gun or not. I told them I did, showed them my CCW. All in all, it was a day full of ignorance about not only the law but basic human rights and it could have been avoided if those sorority girls realized what the 2nd amendment was and how they are not in NJ/NY or MA anymore.

I can't wait to move to PA and get away from those types of people.

Welcome to PAFOA. We'd love to have you over here in America!

Sorry to hear of your difficulties, but as a former resident of the People's Socialist Police State of Maryland, I can relate.

Get here as soon as you can, we'll leave the light on for you.
While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

First off, welcome to the land of the free! Secondly, I live 2 blocks from Villanova, and with all due respect, you people from NY and NJ should have to take a special test to be allowed to drive in my town. Just kidding (not really)!! Anyway, enough ball breaking.First off, good for you for getting the Fla permit to circumvent the PA no having non-resident LTCF's. Second, and this has been discussed and eveyone has their own opinions, Villanova says you can't carry, not the law. My college in NC said the same thing, but I have a strict policy against getting killed in class, so we compromised: Concealed Carry! If your talking about the Wawa I think you are, down by the Hospital, tell you friends about how my wife was in that store last year when it was held up at gunpoint and robbed. Bad shit does happen around here, especially there becasue the EL + 100 run right into Upper Darby and Philly, the guys are gone quick. Anyway, I shoot at a nice outdoor range right by the King of Prussia mall, a lot closer than Classic, if you ever want to come along let me know!
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Amen. **PROUD III**

I thought parent's insurance covered you no matter where you went to school...up to the age of 23?

Welcome to Pennsylvania.I made the move across the river 6 years ago. Never looked back.

Not to be negative but concealed means concealed. If you carry OWB have an untucked tee shirt over your gun so when you open your jacket no one will see your gun.

huh?.......it does NOT have to be concealed, however in order TO conceal it you need a License to Carry a Firearm....open carry is legal in Pennsylvania with out a license except in Philly because it's a city of the first class.

In Philly you need a LTCF either open or concealed.

I was talking about his circumstance. Being in a non gun friendly place it would be wise and prudent to keep your gun concealed unless you enjoy being stoped by the police.

I know this sucks but saying I'm in the right is no fun when you are explainig your self to the cops.

prudent or not, the law is the law...if they stop you they are ignoring the law and that is exactly why people need to stand up for their rights. why should one conceal when they are perfectly within their right not to, simply because of illegal actions of law enforcement?

nothing will ever change if everyone has this view. i'm not picking on you, i understand that most people don't want to be harassed by the police, but in a case like that it would simply be harassment. we should not HAVE TO CONCEAL because law enforcement should not make it an issue when we dont.

and this coming from someone who never carries openly, i just understand both sides.

You are not getting my point. I also think you should be able to open carry . What I'm talking about is the people he is carrying around are anti gun people from New jersey.. If you want to convert them, flashing your gun from under your coat is not going to do it.He was not open carrying he was carrying concealed and accidently showed his gun.

this is exactly what will "convert" them!...being from states such as NJ and Ny has people in acceptance of anti-gun thinking. seeing guns and being around them more and more on a daily basis and accepting it as a normal and commonplace day to day thing is exactly what will change their minds, if that was the real issue, which its not...if they are around guns constantly and nothing happens, and they dont see bodies rolling in the street from these "crazy gun toting activists" it will become accepted.

and im not missing your point, just trying to point out the flaw in the thinking. the issue is not about "converting" anyone, the issue is him exercising his rights to protect himself not being stomped on simply because someone might be scared or unaccepted.

people can "not accept" my gun all they want, but if my life is ever in danger or even theirs for that matter, i will be prepared.
