Score One for Probable Cause!!
Good for the SCOTUS! This Roberts is crazy. The last thing I need is for police to be able to pull me over becasue an "anonymous tipster" turns me in. God knows what Pandoras Box that could open.

Re: Score One for Probable Cause!!
How about it. Did you notice the poll? The results are rather disturbing:
What do you think about John Roberts' opinion on the drunken-driving case?
I agree with him 67%
I disagree with him 26%
Not sure 7%
Total Votes: 54,337

Re: Score One for Probable Cause!!
Damn I wish Roberts had his way and got this overturned. Then I could make an anonymous call every time someone cuts me off, drives a car I don't like, or just looks at me funny. I'd never need to flip the bird again, just get them pulled over and harassed for DUI.

Re: Score One for Probable Cause!!
It's all in how you interpret the question. Do I agree that we need to get drunk drivers off the road, yes. Do I agree that it's a damn shame that drunk drivers kill people, yes. Do I agree that an anonymous tip, without reinforceable fact, is enough to perform a stop, no.
This would fly in the face of innocent until proven guilty; or maybe these guys like paying out in civil suits? It's also much better to be an evicted survivor than an obedient corpse. -GunLawyer001

Re: Score One for Probable Cause!!
Using an emotional twinge to the story like the author has done, what other expectations do you have in the poll numbers? We fine American Citizens ain't the brightest folks when it comes to disregarding BS and understanding the meat and potatos of the issue, ie RAS for a traffic stop or a clear law violation vs OMG, a DUI driver. Oh, and by the way, a DUI driver doesn't necessarily mean the driver is "DRUNK!" Just means they less capable of operating a motor vehicle or meet the states minimum level for a per se violation.

More proof positive that neither Robers nor Scalia are actually conservative.

Try a search on here for "LTCF RAS" and "Reasonable Articuable Suspicion". Lots of good reading.

this^^
I noticed that too. Disturbing.
Do we have even one single govt official who actually understands and makes decisions based on THE CONSTITUTION, the supreme law of the land? (aside from RP)
Why do our elected officials insist on ignoring the one and only document they are actually sworn to uphold?Let them take arms
