Default How to get Pa Concealed carry

Hello: Having lived in Erie County for some time (years ago) I was pleased to have discovered that I might get a concealed carry permit for Pa with reciprocity in other states. thats just great!

I have a NY concealed carry. It appears i just download the application and send it in? Or do I need to go to the Erie County sheriff?

That's it. You can do it entirely by mail. You might want to click "COUNTIES" at the top of the page here. Some PA Sheriffs won't issue non-resident LTCFs, even though they're all supposed to. You can check each county if you follow the link.

I've read here that only Center County will do non-res LTCFs.
While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

I've heard that Centre County is particularly quick and painless about it, but many other Sheriffs will issue them with no real problem. There are a few that won't issue non-res Licenses at all though.

From the PSP web page http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal...&css=L2&mode=2

"Individuals who are 21 years of age or older and are NOT Pennsylvania residents may apply for a license by submitting a completed Application for a Pennsylvania License to Carry Firearms to any Pennsylvania County Sheriff’s office along with the required fee. A Pennsylvania license cannot be issued to a resident of another state who does not possess a current license or permit or similar document to carry a firearm issued by their home state if a license is provided for by the laws of that state, as published annually in the Federal Register by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms of the Department of the Treasury."

A litle further down the page...
"The issuance of a License to Carry Firearms allows individuals to carry a firearm concealed on or about their person, or in a vehicle throughout this Commonwealth."

Hope this helps. For what it's worth, Berks County was quick, easy, and only $25.

So those who wont...do they deny the applicant? or refuse to accept the application?

Not true, many will. Some require you do it in person, some will take mailed in apps. Centre Co is just the main go-to county because the issue with no bones about it.

Yeah, make sure you call... Some sheriffs will NOT accept apps that come in the mail. My county sheriff, for example, requires that you come in and turn it in personally.
