Re: READ FIRST: Where you CAN and CANNOT Carry weapons in the State of Pennsylvania
I've made similar replies in the past comparing the disrespect of other people's property rights to socialism/communism - but it usually falls on deaf ears.
Property rights is pretty much the basis for ALL rights. ...your right to life, your right to keep/bear arms, your right to a place of abode, etc, etc. By not honoring other peoples' desires to manage their own lands and buildings, a person is in fact a hypocrite. No one is forcing you to sign that lease/rental/HOA agreement, no one is forcing you to enter that business, no one is forcing you to keep that job, etc, etc.
If you want to see a property owner remove the restrictions - write, petition, and/or protests them into it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515

Re: READ FIRST: Where you CAN and CANNOT Carry weapons in the State of Pennsylvania
I've seen numerous discussions elsewhere on the forums about no carry on Post Office property, yet nothing here on the first page. Just wondering if this should be updated? I truly wasn't aware of the restriction, and I'm glad I checked into it since I would normally have my firearm on me when I stop to check my mail.

Re: READ FIRST: Where you CAN and CANNOT Carry weapons in the State of Pennsylvania
It is a federal government building.. Federal employees are stationed there to work.. And nearly every post office I've been in has had it posted at or near the door.
Do not carry into post offices. Even leaving the gun in the vehicle in the parking lot could very well be a violation.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515

I have to disagree, not all post offices have this posted, I know mine, which is a very small rural office, does not have any signs posted about firearms.

It definitely should be posted... It's a federal reg that firearms are not permitted on USPS property (including the parking lot, if specifically for the PO):
Title 39, Code of Federal Regulations, Section 232.1

You have to watch out what building are post offices in some rural areas. I was in a small town a few years ago and went into a small store and here it was the town's post office as well. I don't know how the laws pertain to a situation like that but it's not something I wanted to be tied up with.

Re: READ FIRST: Where you CAN and CANNOT Carry weapons in the State of Pennsylvania
That being said, all the Post Office signs I've seen reference 18 USC 930 (which, by the way, does not apply to USPS property).
And then there's the Department of Veterans Affairs. It posts its property (the signs cite 18 USC 930 again), which does apply, but 18 USC 930 only applies to buildings occupied by federal workers, yet the DVA claims it applies to all the property, including parking lots.

Re: READ FIRST: Where you CAN and CANNOT Carry weapons in the State of Pennsylvania
I'm still a little unclear about so called gun free zones pertaining to schools. I live in a neighborhood in Philadelphia where people have been shot dead so I recently got my LTCF. There are several schools in the area (south Philadelphia), I have been carrying when walking my dog etc especially at night and making an effort to avoid them or at least staying across the street but I have questions about that being legal or not and I mean letter of law not spirit of the law.
It's my understanding that I can conceal carry (with permit) near schools but not on school property, but if I did NOT have a carry permit the 1000 foot perimeter is the letter of the law. Am I wrong? What's the rules on that?
