We're American; we like things that are loud and things that explode.

I mean hell, I'm saying this on a gun forum right now.

my Ranger needed this... took about 5 minutes.. all they did was install a fused link in the harness.

apparently, the speed control on off switch is attached to the brake master cylinder.. and is always powered.
if the pressure switch goes bad, the brake fluid leak into the switch causes a short, and the wire heats up, and CAN (not will) cause a fire before the wire melts in half.

chit happens, didn't cost me a dime.

Huh, I woulda thought my Expedition would be included.

Is there a FREE place to run my VINs (3 vehicles) to see if there are any open recalls?

When I was working on Land Rovers, we had a recall issue with the Discovery models. The airbags would seemingly go off at random. Turns out it needed a very narrow set of circumstances to make it happen. These were: cruise control on and set, over 65mph, disengage cruise control, hit 'resume' button within 10 seconds and "WHAM" off she'd go. Read those circumstances again.
Now , picture this. You are driving down the highway, on cruise, say 70mph speed. Your radar detector goes off. What is the first thing that happens? Your right foot stabs the brake pedal, right? Even before you fully register the 'deedle, deedle, deedle' noise, your foot has disengaged the cruise. You roll past the nice policeman in his 'speedtrap mobile'. What do you do next? Hit 'resume'. BOOM!!
I told a buddy of mine who was a State Trooper this, and he got all excited. "I saw that happen". He was running a trap on the Blue route and watched a Disco go past him, and ten seconds later the vehicle left the road and hit a tree. He said he rolled down to help the guy and he is sitting there blaming the airbag for the wreck. Buddy tells me he didn't beleive the guy and wanted to laugh at him, but didn't. Says he's glad he didn't, now that he knows what really happened. A little later, just before he and his wife left for the evening, he told me he can't wait for tomorrow. Going to volunteer for 'Speed Enforcement' duty. Sick bastard.
