    Default Hand gun purchase.

Someone mentioned to me that if you already have an active CCW permit when purchasing a hand gun that there is no need for a background check or waiting period?

    Is this true?

No it is not true. You still need to have the check done every time you buy a handgun.

That is not true, however there is a bill in the Pennsylvania house that would create this exemption: HB 1029.

While I think the idea is great in theory. It would alleviate the need and problems with PICS and maybe lower the cost of a purchase a little.

What I worry about is the way that these counties are handling their permits. It seems like there's different criteria for a lot of people in this county for getting their LTCF. I worry about Sheriffs going overboard with the LTCF to avoid having to issue them. If you can go buy a gun with one, then they need to maintain the status of the licenses. I can see Sheriff's offices grow tired of this and try to skirt as many as possible to avoid the responsibility involved.

I don't know too much on the subject but I see that as a feasible possibility.

It'd be nice, but unfortunately the law says it's a no go. I find it interesting that it's insanely hard to get a handgun in New Jersey, but any police officer can walk into a gun shop, buy a gun, and walk out within minutes.
