Re: building a silencer - where to get paperwork
That's not all you need.
You need to submit the following:
- two - original copies of the form 1 (5320.1) - Application to Make and Register a Firearm w/photo attached
- two - fingerprint cards FBI FD-258LE
- two - 5330.20 - Certificate of Compliance With 18 U.S.C. 922(g)(5)(B)
- A check for $200 made payable to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives
Note you need TWO of each item except the check.
Order the paperwork "kit" directly from ATF
http://www.atf.gov/dcof/index.htm
Follow the directions carefully on the online order form, it's a bit touchy.
The form 1 "kit" can be found as follows:
On the link pasted above. On the right hand side is a blue frame where the forms are selected. At the top of box is a sort link for "applications". Click it and then select the first item on the list:"ATF F 1 (5320.1) - Application to Make and Register a Firearm Packet (includes instructions, fingerprint cards, and other material)"Last edited by Pa. Re: building a silencer - where to get paperwork
Almost correct. Only one 5330.20 - Certificate of Compliance With 18 U.S.C. 922(g)(5)(B) is needed.
Lancaster county Sheriff is NFA friendly.
Just remember to file the paperwork first and get the NFA stamp back BEFORE you attemp to build a suppressor.

Re: building a silencer - where to get paperwork
It's too bad you can't get something like an R&D Permit for 60days to mess around with building your own suppressor, before deciding to just buy a good one. I'd like to try my hand at making one someday, but I don't want to waste $200 to find out I can't do it.
