Default I have a question: Bald Eagle state Forest

We spent the weekend at Bald Eagle SF.. While there we heard a rythmic sound ...

I will describe it as best I can:

To me it sounded as if you dropped a steel ball from height and let it bounce in a tube.

    BOOM

    BOOM

    BOOM

    boom
    boom
    boom
    boom

It progressed from slow booming to very rapid and stopped for about 10 minutes..
    Any ideas?

Sounds to me like some kind of bridge pier setting or well drilling.

It's probably somehow related to gas drilling. They're everywhere anymore.

[lmao and snickering to self "city boy"] Yes, grouse drum in the fall. They can be VERY difficult to locate visually when doing this and it is for survival reasons.

where in BESF? a little more specific if you could....

Not sure to whom the "city boy" remark was addressed to but. I was NEVER a city ANYTHING!

It was NOT animal !!!! PERIOD!

Gas drilling would be likely, but do they drill daily, including Sunday's?

It went on until just after dark Sat and started around 9 am Sunday.

I have beard it in GreenRidge SF in MD as well in the past, it intrigued me then as does it now.

yeah I'd put money on drilling as well. most likely drilling a gas well. I believe the rigs are only allowed to be on site for 60 - 90 days (based on DCNR press briefings) so they work as fast as they can... they are going down 2 - 3 miles in most cases... thats a lot of drilling

I doubt it was a water well that they may have been drilling for a campground or anything like that as they wouldn't drill for 2 days on that. I doubt most bridge pylons go deep enough to take that amount of time either.
The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.

Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.
