Philadelphia Police Department Ammunition
I'm having a bit of trouble finding an answer using search...
Does anyone know, offhand, what ammunition is standard issue for the Philadelphia Police Department?

They don't carry guns. Don't you know guns are dangerous in Philly?

Re: Philadelphia Police Department Ammunition
Nicely played.
I know that they're still issuing the Glock 17. And I know that they issued the Federal 9BP load (standard pressure 115gr JHP) load for years and years.
But I think they changed in recent years, though I'm not sure. That's why I ask
Hopefully one of the PPD folks will pop in with the answer. The material presented herein is for informational purposes only, is not guaranteed to be correct, complete, or up to date, does not constitute legal advice and does not establish an attorney-client relationship. Re: Philadelphia Police Department Ammunition
They're still carrying Glock 17's to the best of my knowledge except for the few guys that carry wheelguns (I assume the guys that carry wheel guns are the older guys / top brass)
The SEPTA cops have switched to SigPro's though.
As for the ammunition, I'm not sure. I know a few Philly cops but not well enough to call them up and ask them. If I run into one at the range in the future I'll ask them.Dan P, Founder & President, Pennsylvania Firearm Owners Association

I don't know what ammo they use, but I do know that they have the option to carry a Glock 22 now if they pay for it themselves and qualify with it.

Re: Philadelphia Police Department Ammunition
This thread is 3˝ years old. Most of the wheelgunners back then were either brass, or at the airport, and half of them are now pushing up daisies or shoving shuffleboard pucks in retirement parks.

I figure they just use the ammo they steal from law abiding gun owners.

Lol. It is good to know, that way a prosecutor can't try and claim your ammo is super exotic/pre-meditated to kill their client.
No sir, I asked a Philadelphia Police Officer what they used and determined their ammunition was effective and safe for use in public.
