    Question Converting a Muzzle loader?

My uncle is moving to Pa from Va.
He has an older percussion cap muzzle loader. He was wondering if you can convert a percussion cap to a flint lock?
If so how hard is it going to be, and what would be a ball park price range if it can be done?.
I'm guessing he'd be better off to sell it and go buy a flintlock, but I have no idea.
they're selling make believe and we don't buy that here

flintlocks were often converted to percussion a few hundred years ago, so going backwards should be easy. to convert a percussion to flint you need a new "lock" that includes the entire mechanism and a touch hole bung. some guns marketed by CVA in the 70's came with both locks and both threaded breach inserts so you could go either way.

it would prolly be cheaper and easier for your uncle to buy a flinter than to go to the trouble of converting, unless he has a common rifle and you can find a website discussion board like this one that would have links to parts sources. if you could find the parts, i bet it could be done for under a hundred bux.

it would be way easier to just get the rock lock. if the cap lock is *that* old, getting the snail* out of the barrel could prove more of a headache than what it's worth.

fyi, it is legal the way it is now for the early season.

*the bit that the cap is placed on, and threads into the barrel.
it's only metal, we can out think it....
