Rivers Casino isn't bringing in the money
Guys it's looking like the Rivers Casino is going to be a bust. All that money Luke Ravenstahl and Dan Onarato thought was coming to the city and county ain't going to be there.
A little fact to the stupid politicians that keep getting elected in this city.
UNEMPLOYEED people with no money don't go to casinos.

Re: Rivers Casino isn't bringing in the money
The slots parlor apparently is having difficulty outdrawing the nearby Carnegie Science Center's IMAX screening focusing on a family of beavers.

Re: Rivers Casino isn't bringing in the money
Look why would someone that wants to gamble go to the "rivers" when they can go just down 70 to the Meadows? The Science Center has also lost customers due to the fact that the "rivers" brings in more traffic and parking problems.

Re: Rivers Casino isn't bringing in the money
Lets face it ... most of the people going to the casinos are older. How many of those people do you really thing want to drive "in the city" pay to park (it gets refunded after the fact), and deal with all the hassle? They can just go down 79 to the meadows, park for free, not deal with "the city". It only makes sense. They need something else to draw the people in and it isn't table games.

Re: Rivers Casino isn't bringing in the money
i think a big part of the issue is that the rivers casino is not currently really a casino...it is a slots parlor. the WV casinos are real casinos...they have table games.
i think that rivers is going to have table games, soon, though...so my theory will be tested. we'll see if they draw better crowds once they have table games or not.F*S=k

Re: Rivers Casino isn't bringing in the money
The rivers casino has horrible payouts on the slots and it sucks to get there. They raise their payouts for penny slots and I will think of going back. One good thing about it being dead though is that there isnt any problem dealing with a bunch of people.

I didn't even know it was open yet. They need to advertise more, at least to the younger crowd.

Re: Rivers Casino isn't bringing in the money
I don't gamble in PA, and won't until they get table games (and only then with decent blackjack rules).

Re: Rivers Casino isn't bringing in the money
I don't gamble... it never made sense to me. I guess I just don't have money to pitch into the toilet.
Some people do. Evidently not as many people as they predicted do. And the ones who do aren't fond of going down town to do it. I certainly wouldn't.
Down town blows.
