    Question is my math correct?

so i was trying to calculate how much powder it takes to load 1000 .223 rounds

    so here it goes

there are 7000 grains of powder in 1 pound

and lets say i use 25 gr of powder per case

    so 7000 grs in a LB/ 25gr per round= 280 rounds

so 1000 rounds is alittle over 3.57 lbs??????????

and since u can buy powder in 8lbs kegs one could load 2240 rounds with 8lbs of powder

    is this correct?

Math looks okay, but bear in mind it's an estimate. If you manage to use 8 lbs loading 223, you'll find a slightly different number. For example, the first time it'll be 2232, the next time 2235, and then 2246. This is the result of a very minor powder charge variation that slowly accumulates over the span of your reloading run. For instance, if you're off 0.1 grains, by the time you get to 2200 rounds you'll be 220 grains short, or have 220 grains left over that could make another 7-8 rounds.

And to further complicate matters, my powder dispenser throws a slightly lighter charge as the powder level decreases. I assume this is from a pressure change in the bottom of the hopper. Irrespective of the cause, It's necessary to check the powder charge periodically even when everything looks okay.

Thus, the 2240 is an approximation.

Your math looks correct in my eyes. I don't tally every round I load and I don't load only one caliber with only one powder or only one type of bullet, nor always use the same powder charge.
From a strictly mathematical point of view, you are correct.
    7000 X 8=56000
    56000 ÷ 25=2240

thats a quote from the big lebowski movie as well as my little photo its a great flick

Walter: Sure you'll see some tank battles. But fighting in the desert is very different from fighting in canopy jungle.

    Dude: Uh-huh.

Walter: I mean 'Nam was a foot soldier's war whereas, uh, this thing should be a fucking cakewalk. I mean I had an M16, Jacko, not an Abrams fucking tank. Just me and Charlie, man, eyeball to eyeball.

    DUDE: Yeah.

WALTER: That's fuckin' combat. The man in the black pajamas, Dude. Worthy fuckin' adversary.

    DONNY
    Who's in pajamas, Walter?

    WALTER
Shut the fuck up, Donny. Not a bunch
of fig-eaters with towels on their
heads tryin' to find reverse on a
Soviet tank. This is not a worthy.......
