    Default Stoeger Cougar Mag Loader

I'm 64 years old and starting to have arthritis in some of my fingers and especially the thumbs. My Stoeger 8000 9 mil Cougar has a 15-round clip and I am lucky if I can push 6 rounds in without pain and discomfort (yea, I never thought that I'd see the day). Can someone tell me where I can find a nice mag loader?

    Thanks

    1 word...... UpLula

    Cabelas has them...product # 22-8638. They are $29.99.
Best $30 you'll ever spend! I'm sure other shops have them as well or can get it for you.

It is universal....it'll load 9mm, .40 and .45 whether it be a single stack or double stack mag (like your Stoeger).

You'll never believe how easy & fast this thing is....and durable. I have literally loaded thousands of rounds into mags with this. I love that it's universal as well. I take one loader to the range & I can load for every pistol I have!

Went to Cabela's and found it! I watched the video at YouTube as well. This is a God-send for me, I am whipping out the Visa as we speak. I noticed that he was putting the rounds in with his left hand and then squeezing it with his right. How hard does it need to be squeezed to place the round? Thanks a million!

A couple weeks ago I ran across a clip loader for Ruger Mark II & III 22 LR (The Ultimate Cliploader). I watched the video and it seems to work on a different principle but it is extremely fast! You dump a handful or two of rounds into a plastic box type thing, then gently tip it up and down 2 or 3 times to align the bullets and then you stuff the mag into the end of it. Loads in 3 seconds. It's only for 22 LR though. Makes me want to run out and buy the Ruger.

    Thanks again!

Thanks for the loader tip. My double stack CZ82 is a bear to load.

You don't have to squeeze hard at all! There's almost no pressure at all to squeeze, but you do have to squeze and "pull down" at the same time which puts some pressure on the wrist (but not a lot!). I've shown it to friends & other people at ranges (they usually approach me when they see me loading so fast) and they RUN out to Cabelas to get one (I live only about 20 minutes away). There might be a 45-60 second learning curve on how to use it....after that, you're golden!

I use a Butler Creek loader for all of my Ruger 10/22 mags...you load the ammo into the "box", put the mag into the holder & then turn a crank to load. Comes in handy when reloading 5 or 6 50 round mags! It's fast.....

It's funny, my CZ RAMI mags are tough to load as well....maybe it's a CZ thing?

The UpLula will work wonders.......out of ANY gun related thing I've bought, this is by FAR the best purchase. I would happily pay double...it's just that good!

One other thing that's maybe relevant....I have titanium pins in BOTH of my thumbs...one due to a car accident and the other a bike accident. Even though I'm -only- 40, I can feel arthritis setting in & I don't have 100% full range of motion.

Before the UpLula, I'd get sore thumbs after about 6 mag loads or so. I was out this past weekend for 4 hours at the range & didn't have ANY issues. I probably went through 300 rounds or so of ammo in that time.

After a range trip a couple of years ago a (good) friend showed up at the house with one. Let me go back to loading more than 5 or 6 in my mags.

The beretta mags in your Stoeger need to be compressed and broken in. After you have used them a few times they will loosen up. I use a plastic mag loader that I picked up for $8.00 from condors flight.

Just make sure you pick the right size. Works great for me with a little practice.
