    Actually there is such:
From the PA Digest: " Deer and Bear: Regular Seasons - 1) Manually operated centerfire rifles, handguns and shotguns with all lead bullet or ball, or bullet designed to expand on impact;" http://www.pgc.state.pa.us/pgc/lib/p...7/big_game.pdf
That means you can use all LEAD bullets or all LEAD ball. Example: the hard cast lead Keith bullet I use in my 44 Mag, they do not expand, or for the one gun hunter it does not exclude the lead muzzleloader ball PA used to require for the Flintlock season, and shotgun lead "pumpkin ball”. All other bullets must be designed to expand on impact. FMJs do not expand.

    From MD:
"It is only lawful to hunt with ammunition of soft point (expanding) construction. All military, full metal jacketed, incendiary or tracer bullets are prohibited."

I would consider it unethical to "ice pick” a deer to death. (poke .310 inch holes that close up after the bullet leaves” A arrow broad head cuts and leaves a big hole.

Yes killing a deer with a FMJ can be done but it is NOT THE RIGHT TOOL FOR THE JOB.

That's one thing I wish PA would allow... semi-auto rifles for hunting. I drool every time I see that Benelli R-1 in .300 Win Mag.
