BPS High Capacity vs Mossburg 590
I am a lefty, so these are the only two pump shotguns I can easily use because of the tang safety.
Is there anybody out there who knows both have any comments on which one to use as a home/hurricane gun.

Howdy GHF, as you are not getting a large amount of replies, I can offer the following. I have two 590's (and two 500's) and I would have no problem with recomending them for your purpose. I have not used the BPS.

I don't know about the BPS either, but if you're looking at a "Hurricane Gun" I'd go with a Marine finish.

I'm a lefty as well. I bought the Browning BPS for home defense. Shoots great, smooth action, and is perfectly balanced for me. Easy operation for a lefty. I highly recommend it.

To everybody who commented. I appreciate all of your input regarding the BPS High Capacity and the Mossberg 590. I know what I need to know to make the choice, when I get the chance.

Mossberg M500 Mariner J.I.C.
comes with a nice watertight/airtight tube
Whether it’s survival in the backcountry
or hurricane season on the coast,
one can never be too prepared
for the unexpected.
The heart of the JIC™ package is the venerable 12 gauge Mossberg® 500® Pump-Action. Fitted with a compact 18-1/2” barrel and rugged synthetic pistol grip and forearm, model, the Mariner® featuring our proprietary Marinecote™ finish for employment in or around harsh marine environments. Each is sealed in a re-sealable clear bag, and is packaged in a heavy-duty, waterproof synthetic carrying-tube complete with re-sealable top and nylon carrying strap. You’ll also find convenient accessories including the durable multi-tool and serrated lock-back knife combo pack with cordura case.
TBH i got the JIC over the standard M500 simply because i really like the tube it comes in. its neat!
