Default The reason you treat all firearms as if they are loaded!

I was going thru the safe, as I do every month or 2, and wiping down the firearms, and inspecting for any rust or anything. I have a winchester 30/30 lever action, and I was checking the action.

So I worked the lever, and lo and behold, a round pops out of the magazine into the action! Now I haven't shot this rifle since hunting season, but I've picked it up, and worked the action repeatedly during all my monthly checks and cleanings. The round must have been stuck in the magazine. Thank god I wasn't just assuming it was unloaded!

When I first got the rifle, I noticed some sticking in the magazine, which I cleaned out real well and lubed lightly. I thought I had the issue fixed, but apparently not. Anyone have any suggestions what I can do to get the tube magazine working more reliably?

I am not a gunsmith, but my first thought is to get rid of the "light lube" for the magazine.

Lubes tend to gum over time. No lube is better than light lube. Otherwise, I have no idea what might be causing this.

Worst case scenario, if you can''t resolve it, I'll take it off your hands for $50, cause I'm just 'that guy'!
While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

my wife lever gun use to stick to.took the mag tube off and cleaned it real well also took some fine steel wool put on a bore brush that fit the mag tube and used a codless drill to polish the inside of the mag tube.also check to see if mag tube spring is weak and that the plug that pushes the rounds slides smoothly in the mag tube.hope this helps crazywolf

Also if you have a Sling on it, check for dent left by sling swivel screw.....not entirely the best setup

Glock Pistols.......So simple a Caveman could fix them!
