Both my wife and I have used a passport photo in Montco with no problems. The deputies used scissors to make it fit on the license. They just stapled the other one to my application, I think.

Question: Is this something new? Is a photo needed for a LTCF now? My current LTCF was issued in 2005 & says "Valid without photo" where the pic would go.

Then why was the photo you supplied needed?

I suggest the op call the sheriff to see if they take the digital picture there. The instructions may not be current.

in Philly i had to give them a 1.5 x 1.5" "passport type" photo (they want head a shoulders, with your head filling up most of the space, in front of a neutral background). I took one myself with a timer on my camera and printed it out from my computer on some decent paper. When I got there they stapled it to my paperwork. When I went in to get the license they took another photo on the spot - the camera was hooked up to the computer and card printing machine. They didn't use the photo I gave them, it was just for reference, apparently.

According to the Cumberland County website:

If you choose, for an additional $5.00, the Cumberland County Sheriffs Office can take your photo within our office and you will receive as your license a plastic photo card (similar to a drivers license) that will take the place of the paper license.

I could not find anything on the Perry County site for the sheriff's dept., but IT SHOULD BE UNIFORM throughout the state.....

I like to have the photo on my LTCF, then there is no question who it belongs to....the laminated card is easier to carry and lasts longer also - and yes, it does cost more....but it is worth it - IMHO....

    Bucks charges $10...

    Where can I get a 1 1/2' x 1 1/2' photo made for my LTCF application?
    Cut 1/4" off all sides of the 2" x 2" ----- Problem solved! ! ! !

Yeah, I saw that...plan is to use passport photos that I already have and get the paper permit. If they can't use them, then I'll get the plastic card permit since it'd only be $7 more at that point.

When I applied in Philadelphia they just used the photo I supplied for the background check. When I got the license they took their own pic.

    Correct.
For Philadelphia, the "passport type photo" goes into a file and they take a separate digital photo that gets printed on your card when you go to pick up your LTCF.

Well even though we have to wait in Allegheny, they are at least nice enough to take our pictures and give us the laminated card without any extra charges.
