Just a thought
So many times I read about OC incidents where it's always someone calling the PD because the general public doesn't know that it's legal to carry firearms openly in public.
So while I was reading one particular thread, it occurred to me that perhaps, just perhaps, we could somehow take up a collection from our thousands of members here and run a commercial on TV about carrying in PA. Maybe run that commercial during sporting events on TV, or during the news, or sometime where most of the general public is watching.
Sound like a good idea, or am I on crack?
There has got to be a better way to inform the general public other than handing out fliers (which I've handed out a few dozen already). What about posting on grocery store/ laundry mat bulletin boards?

Re: Just a thought
It would be a great idea but the production and then cost of running it would be incredible. I had some TV ads made for a convention I ran 20 years ago, and then ran them on 'cable only' channels and the cost was over $20,000.
And honestly I think you would be hard pressed to get that much support out of members, I know it's a little cynical but we have seen it before.

Re: Just a thought
Something like this would have to be very carefully done. It could easily backfire, with half the soccer moms (and dads) out there freaking out and writing their reps to fix this horrible situation pronto.

Re: Just a thought
It sounds like a good idea as part of a settlement for damages. As long as the video was pre approved or supplied by the plaintiff.

I love the idea for the commercial. I would think that the NRA would possibly partner up or want to be apart of something like that and have them fund it or contribute.

Re: Just a thought
This idea has been kicked around before.
Cost wise it doesn't work out. Running a TV ad is much too expensive, and you'd have to run it a LOT to reach a percentage of the population so it would be effective.
Better save that money and run ads in local newspapers, ect.==============

Radio?
Voice#1: "9-1-1, what's your emergency?"
Voice#2: "There's a man with a gun!"
V#1: "ok. what is he doing with the gun?"
V#2: "He's walking his dog."
V#1: "Is the gun in a holster?"
V#2: "Yes...it is..."
V#1: "Well, ma'am. Then you really dont have anything to worry about. Open carry is legal in PA."
Announcer voice: "That's right. In PA, and X # of other states, it is perfectly legal to carry a firearm openly.....{experts can fill in the rest of the talking points"
