Default Went gun shop hunting and scored ....

    a very clean Sig P228 (I know a Sig - surprise, surpirse )

This P228 has a date proof of "KD" which makes it a 1993 production gun. It came complete with the original box, test target, owners manual, and spare mag (which is the only reason that bought it, plus and the price was very good)

I took the gun apart last night and judging from the lack of wear on all of the usual parts, I'd guess that this gun has less than 50 rounds through it. There are a couple of wear spots on the outside finish of the gun, but those are normal for the pre Nitron finished Sigs. The standard early Sig finishes were not very durable unless you paid for the K-kote option (which was not very common)

Sweet old school Sig. I dig how it says "Made in W. Germany." Reminds me of the bad old days.

Do tell which shop you got that gem at...

    thanks

I found it at Tanners in Jamison
    http://tannerssportcenter.com/

For those that have never been there, Tanners is a family run gun shop that is a great place to visit. The staff is great, and you don't get the "attitude" that some places give you. Their prices are pretty good, but they don't usually haggle. They always have a shit load of guns. Their rifle racks where full as were the handgun cases.

They are hit or miss when it comes to older Sigs. I did find a P220 made in 1987 complete with all the trimmings about 8 months ago. It looked to have been only test fired at the factory. It's one of the nicer Sigs in my collection.

I saw a nice P229 SAS 1st generation $595.00, a P245 that had some decent wear on it (would make a good CCW) $399.00, a P220 two tone SAO $??, and a P226 Blackwater Tactical that someone was trading in when I was there.

My P228's (less the one I gave to my son)
left to right: 1991 factory nickel, 1991 two tone, 1993 blue, and 1996 blue with factory wood grips

We'll chalk this up to 'it pays to live right' or 'some guys have all the luck'.

Very nice score there. Looking forward to getting my Zurich 228 back from CCR. Hard to beat a 228.

One thing that I enjoy about my Sig P-228 is that it is the Hi-Viz model.
6 different sized Front Pips, 3 Green and 3 Orange. Also I had a fair
amount of P-226 magazines, bought a few magazine adapters from Copes
Distribution for them. Now have a 15 round magazine capacity to go along
with the original 13 rd magazines. Still put my P-226 at the top of my
favorite list, but the P-228 is one semi-automatic that is right up there
    with the best of them.

I was just at tanners today myself, i agree about the staff. Picked up a glock 26 brand new with night sights for $560.00. This is my second gun from here and i'm sure there will be more Buy at Tanners, shoot at Classic Pistol.
