Walmart ammo sales to NY residents

I was in the Matamoris Walmart yesterday. It is located just across the river from Port Jervis NY. They had a sign posted that they could not sell pistol ammo to anyone from NY unless that person had a NYS pistol permit.
I've bought pistol ammo there before, as well as in Honesdale and Scranton, and have not seen this sign before or been asked to prove that I live in PA.

Anyone else run into this from any of the border areas around the state?

Why would it matter, the wal-mart isn't breaking any law in PA, and that is where it is located.

Wouldn't it be the purchaser problem taking it back into NY. Does this store restrict the sale of cigarettes to out of state patrons also?

Liberal agenda is that the individual committing the offense is not responsible for his own actions. Walmart is the enabler and they are responsible.

I've never seen that sign so it's must be new. I'll take a look tomorrow and ask the guys who run the counter about it if it's there

Was just in there at the ammo counter and did not see the sign. I read every one that was posted but nothing like that. Where was t posted.
