if this is your first handgun and the only reason you are considering a 22 is because it's a light recoiling caliber i would urge you to go with a 9mm. if your afraid of developing bad habits take a entry level handgun class and get yourself educated. you can develop bad habits shooting a 22 just as easily as you can develop bad habits shooting any other caliber. 9mm is light recoiling and easy to handle for beginners so i would start there instead of with a 22 plus a 9mm hits hard enough to use for self defense. with all that said my experience with sig 22 cal pistols has not been good so i can't in good conscience recommend anyone buy one.
