Daughters teacher and Obamas speech
My Daughter is a Sr. in HS, her school district decided the HS students had to watch the Obamablah speech.
Daughters English teacher brought in a tape of his Inaugural Speech, muted it.
She told the class what she was doing and that the class lesson of the day was more important than hearing what Obamablah had to say.
If anyone peeked into the class they could see the TV going...but clueless on the words from the other side of a closed door. (besides it was muted )
I think I really like how the teacher handled it.

I love the way she handled it , just hope some student from a liberal household don't go home complaining and get her fired .
Don't blame me ; I voted for an American .

Re: Daughters teacher and Obamas speech
Wow, surprising in today's day of liberal education. I actually allowed my daughters to watch it after I reviewed the transcript so that I could discuss it with both of them. Their impression was that it was not political but more of a motivational speech to do their best...

Nominate that woman for any teaching awards you can. She deserves some recognition for teaching her students and not giving in to forced indoctrination. It would have been one thing to have the students watch the speech at lunch (you are referring to the address to the students and not last night's speech right?) or have them pull it off the web where I am sure it is posted under masses of sticky nasty goo from the spontaneous orgasmic releases The Great One elicits from the masses.

Re: Daughters teacher and Obamas speech
I hope she would have done the same thing for McCain's speeches.
Some say that his discharge is luminous.

Re: Daughters teacher and Obamas speech
I agree... no politics in the classroom.
BTW, the teacher never said she was for or against obama, just that the speech didn't take precedence over what she needed to teach.
Our HS has block scheduling, if you know what that is. She's gotta fit just a years education into one semester.

Re: Daughters teacher and Obamas speech
I love Blocked classes. I was one of the first classes in Long Beach MS. to have the blocked classes and it was really great. The class lasted 1.5 hours long but I only had 5 classes a day. It helped on the homework load and was much easier on finals having to prep for 4-5 classes instead of 7-8 classes. That was 12 years ago and it makes me wish that I could be back in highschool again. Never knew how easy it was back then.
