Re: big bore single action revolver hunters
The type of bullet I use is hard cast as I want to break bones.
I use a .41 Mag on white tail.
For Elk or Moose I use a .454 or a 500 Mag.

44 Mag with a 240 gr. Hornady XTP and a near max load of Win 296 powder for hunting deer. 240 gr cast and a mild load of Unique for practice/plinking.

Re: big bore single action revolver hunters
.44mag - cheapo 240gr JHP's above a healthy dose of BlueDot, they leave my 10.5" Virginian Dragoon Silhouette at about 1550-1850fps depending on powder charge.
.45LC - 255gr all lead roundnoses and 225gr XTP's, over some BlueDot of course. Loaded to 1000-1300fps depending on my needs. Ruger Vaquero(old style)
